In 2002, the historic area was even named part of the Upper Middle Rhine Valley UNESCO World Heritage site. One historic city center - countless sights

The historic city center of Koblenz is home to five churches worth visiting: Basilika St. Kastor (Basilica of St. Castor), Liebfrauenkirche (Church of Our Beloved Lady), Florinskirche (St. Florin’s Church), Jesuitenkirche (Jesuit Church) and Herz-Jesu-Kirche (Church of the Sacred Heart). But the highlights of the historic city center area encompass more than just sacral buildings; structures such as the Vier Türme (“Four Towers”), the Deutsches Eck monument and plaza (where the Rhine and Mosel meet), the Alte Burg (“Old Castle”), the Electoral Palace (Kurfürstliches Schloss), the Koblenz Theater, Krämerzunfthaus (grocers’ guild house), Deutschherrenhaus (former Teutonic Order of Knights administrative building), Haus Metternich, Schängelbrunnen fountain with its statue of the local mascot, Alte Münze (Old Mint), Bürresheimer Hof estate, the Altes Kaufhaus and Schöffenhaus (two notable medieval buildings, one a former commercial building and the other a lay court), the Baroque Dreikönigenhaus (Three Kings House), the Deutscher Kaiser tower and the Löhr Center are particular points of interest in the historic city center. All of them are worthy inclusions in any sightseeing tour.
